Observing the Future at Gitex: Which Sectors Will Lead the Way in 2023-24?

Recently, I had the privilege of attending Gitex 2023, a remarkable event that brought together over 7,000 professionals from the IT, SaaS, and B2B sectors. It was an eye-opening experience, and I couldn't help but notice the significant shifts and trends that are reshaping our technological landscape. In this article, I want to share my observations from Gitex 2023, where Gen AI, computing power, smart devices, extended reality, quantum computing, IoT advancements, and more took center stage.

Gen AI: A Glimpse into the Future:

One of the most captivating attractions at Gitex 2023 was the emergence of Gen AI. It's not just a buzzword; it's the future. The integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning into various industries was evident. Gen AI signifies a new era where AI-driven decision-making and automation will revolutionize how we work and live.

The Soaring Power of Computing:

Gitex 2023 showcased the relentless growth of computing power. From powerful servers to edge computing devices, the industry is pushing the boundaries of what's possible. The increased computational capacity will empower us to tackle complex problems and drive innovation across sectors.

Smart Devices on the Rise:

Compared to previous years, the proliferation of smart devices was hard to miss. These devices are not limited to our homes; they are becoming integral to industrial processes, healthcare, and more. The Internet of Things (IoT) is creating a web of interconnected devices that promises efficiency and convenience on a massive scale.

Immersive Experiences with Extended Reality:

Extended Reality (XR) took a leap forward at Gitex 2023. Virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality are no longer confined to the realms of gaming and entertainment. Industries like education, healthcare, and manufacturing are embracing XR to enhance training, diagnostics, and product design.

Quantum Computing and Advanced IoT:

The quantum computing and advanced IoT displays left a lasting impression. Quantum computing holds the potential to revolutionize cryptography, optimization, and simulations. Advanced IoT solutions are paving the way for smarter cities and more efficient supply chains.

Managed Services Companies and Resellers on the Rise:

Gitex 2023 also shed light on the growing importance of managed services companies. These firms are at the forefront of providing specialized support, particularly for platforms like SAP, Salesforce, and Oracle. It's clear that businesses are seeking expertise to maximize the potential of these solutions.

The Era of No Code and Low Code for most straightforward applications:

A notable trend was the emergence of "Ready to Build" software solutions. No-code and low-code development platforms are democratizing software creation. This shift enables businesses to build tailored applications without extensive coding knowledge, accelerating digital transformation efforts.Robots as Power Assistants:Robotic solutions are no longer a futuristic concept. They are already playing a vital role in various industries. Robots are now power assistants, automating repetitive tasks and freeing up human resources for more creative and strategic endeavors.

From Hype to Reality:

As I walked through the event, I couldn't help but notice the gradual shift from hype to reality in many cases. Technologies that were once the stuff of dreams are now tangible solutions that businesses are actively adopting e.g. robots delivering coffee, managing security to name a few.

Conclusion:

Gitex 2023 showcased a future where the physical and virtual worlds merge seamlessly. It's a future that demands immense processing power and the ability to adapt to constant change. From an ICP (Information and Communication Professional) standpoint, it's crucial to evaluate what technologies are maturing and what's still evolving. The decisions we make today will shape how we navigate this transformative journey. While some countries are still in the early stages of brand development, others are embarking on a new journey to excel in showcasing their capabilities.
